Removing Soap Residue - Two Methods

Removing Soap Residue with Hand

For this method you will need 3 things, few clean towels, a clean cloth, white vinegar and a fan.

The first step is to absorb the residue soap. For this place a towel on the wet area and from the outer side to the inner center press the towel firmly to soak up as much water as possible. Change the towel and repeat this step until you are sure that almost all the water is absorbed. In case the residue has already dried no need to do the first step and instead take some white vinegar and dilute it. Next, with a clean cloth apply the diluted vinegar on the spot. Pat it gently to remove the soap residue and to kill the antibacterial and the mold.

Using a Machine to Remove the Soap Residue

For this you will need white vinegar and a carpet shampooing machine or a detergent reservoir.

Fill the machine with the required amount of water, as per the instruction and then instead of providing the shampoo or the soap, add a ¼th cup of white vinegar to it. Let the machine do its work. The white vinegar in place of the shampoo helps in removing both the dirt and also the soap residue present in the carpet. It cleans the carpet thoroughly. Continue doing so until you are sure that the whole carpet is washed thoroughly and all the dirt and the residue have been removed. Next, dry it naturally. Either by opening the windows or by keeping it in an air conditioned or heated room. Leave it to dry for 24 hours. In case there are still any wet areas, take a dry cloth and blot the area with a little bit of dilute white vinegar manually.

Conclusion

So, how to remove soap residue from carpets isn’t the most exciting task, however. The next time you see any carpet stain or soap residue on your carpet, do not worry and clean it yourself. Also, before applying the vinegar to the carpet, test it on a small area to check whether the color remains intact or fades away.
